SIL 2 or SIL 3? Let’s set the record straight!
 

At Transworld Steel Enterprise, we take functional safety seriously. Our ball valves have been certified by TÜV Rheinland according to IEC 61508.

What does this mean?
• Our valves are suitable for SIL 2 applications.
• With proper system design and HFT = 1, they can be used in SIL 3 applications as well.

Simply put, in a safety system (such as a Safety Instrumented System), using two valves in a redundant configuration achieves SIL 3, while using a single valve results in SIL 2.

It is important to understand that SIL ratings apply to entire safety systems, not just individual components. Proper system design and integration are key to achieving the required safety level.
